The Ukraine suffered a famine in 1946 and Mikoyan was sent to investigate it. He was taken to a village and shown a woman who had cut and salted her children like it was no big thing.

My uncle, who died about 25 years ago, was a product of those days. He was originally armenian, of last name Dojoda (?) and his father and older brothers and sisters were murdered in front of him. For some reason, a russian by the name Kermotchenko took his mother and himself to Russia with him (maybe his mom was hot?) and he later emigrated to Argentina in the 30's or 40's.

I tell you, he was one weird motherfucker. He could also put some vodka away (died of diabetes).

This is the excuse that Andrei Chikatilo uses for being so fucked up. He claims he was forced to participate in cannibalism as a child and witnessed it and that's one of the reasons he ended up committing the horrific murders he did. Unfortunately for him, there's no evidence that cannibalism was practiced in the village he grew up in. Great picture, love the historical posts!

Guy's, you are correct that there were cases of cannibalism during WW2 at Stalingrad, Leningrad, etc, but these pics are pre-war and taken during Stalins purges of Russia when he starved and executed millions of his own people.
He was a bigger tyrant to his people than the Germans ever could have hoped to have been.

Sometimes, when one gets too hungry, you dont really wished to care what you are putting in your mouth as long as you get rid of the incessant growling in your stomach.

I doubt anyone in this forum has ever went thru the agony of starvation before thus to say that "I would never....etc" is foolhardiness. Ive never went thru it myself but Ive read so many reports about it that you came to realise that given a chance, norm humans will never eat their own fellow being unless pushed to the brink.

Besides, during times like those, the dead are lying all around rotting away. You are starving. You tried to grovel for some food but theres none.

I remember a report I read which claimed one of the cannibal said "Its dead. Its rotting. Its wrong....but Im dying." That sounds like a plead more than anything else.

If you wished to survive, make do with what you have and live with the consequences.
