Today a friend of mine told me about some excellent rice crackers she gets from an oriental store.
She insisted I take a sample from a bag I'd seen kicking around her dump for a long time, now inside a plastic freezer bag.
A bag within a bag.

I hesitated.
It just didn't seem right, but I was curious and wanted to be polite.
So, I took a sample and sure enough they were still crunchy and very tasty in a foreign sort of way.
I munched on quite a few over time and enjoyed myself immensely but kept thinking something about the flavor was off.
I snacked on the strange tasting chips which probably had MSG on them to make them so intriguing.
Then to my horror, to anyone's horror - I looked over and saw a COCKROACH crawling out of the bag.

While I was chewing on a rice cracker I saw this BUG waltz out of the bag.
It seemed dazed to see light and fresh air as if it were sealed inside for some time.

I stopped chewing instinctively and grabbed a tissue and caught the roach and disposed of it.
But I had to spit the gob in my mouth out an nearly vomited.
My stomach is sour and I'm disgusted.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else?

No, I've never had that. Thank fuck. I used to have a bit of paranoia about eating something like that by mistake so I always look at food before I cram it into my maw.

that has actually happened to me...i was staying with a friend when i was younger, for the weekend, and i went to get some cereal...somehow between the time i poured in the cereal, the milk and started eating..i completely missed a dead roach in the cereal...as i was eating (and had already taken a few large bites) this little roach carcass floated to the top...the horror that went through my mind when i seen that, to the time i was dry heaving about 5 hours later...it was one of the most disgusting moments i have ever had in my life...

I once boiled a kettle of water and when I poured it a little roach sloshed into the
cup from the kettle. Rather than start over I just scooped him out - hell the water was sterilized. Of course I poured all the water out After. It must have crawled in the tiny hole
in the kettle spout.

Update: I looked recently and the crazy bitch still has the crackers even after I told her about the roach.
My last visit was quick, no food or beverages...

But in all seriousness, that sucks. Since I go to college in the city, there are cockroaches always crawling around in our cafe. I always get some chips on the side with my sandwich..and they keep the chips in this big ol' bucket. You're gonna tell me they never swooped a roach or two from it? I'm still waiting for the day when I eat one. Sigh.
