Fuck if they busted him because he fucked an underage girl....a girl that is now a woman and says she wishes they NEVER pressed charges. A girl that was hardly a virgin, more of a hippie chick that did drugs and had sex before she ever met him. Like he was a predator? The guy is obviously a kitten.

Why did the Swiss arrest him? My people are Swiss, they are reasonable. Why are they doing this?

I can't imagine why the Swiss would cave in to U.S. pressure, there must be more to this.

In 2008 I watched the documentary -'Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired'.
It was very well done and illustrated clearly the story behind the 1977 incident.
Polanski directed many of my favorite films and is revered the world over.

You're right Sonya, the woman in question asked the US Gov. not to seek extradition.
She never had any ill will towards Polanski and was pressured into talking with authorities way back when she was a teenager.

Wino, what I meant by trival was not a reference to the rape of a 13 yr old kid.

That man purposely stayed in countries where he can avoid the risk of extradition of the US. Those countries should be ashamed, especially France (at least for me). This was a criminal issue which should and could have been settled a loong time ago. Upon his arrest, France said "no one is above the law". Well that really should have been said back then, not now.

Whether that girl was a willing victim for a shot in fame by wishing to appear in Vogue is another issue altogether. Her age nor gender are not an issue too. What matters is a rape has been committed and that is something that should never be condone.

Roman Polanski is FAR from a danger to society. On that basis alone, and on the basis there are FAR more dangerous people walking the street than should be, that this case is absolutely ridiculous.

He druged and raped an underage girl, she resisted and said no. He plead guilty. He deserves what he gets and just because you skip around doesnt mean your not going to get eventual justice. It's gonna happen. Shit has a way of catching up with you. The "artists" support him because they want more money. Woody Allen supports him because I think he might 'know the feeling'. And the French are just bastards. Anyway why is a guy like this supported while we also support T.V. programs like "To catch a predator"? Just because a person is a great director? What is this?

His appeal was turned down requesting house arrest.The Swiss authorities say they dont trust him not to do a runner so he stays in jail.

Its odd that when something that people consider bad happens to a kid they are considered a child,but if they do something bad,they are tried in court as an adult.
