Cool TAXI DRIVER (Great Intro Included)

What can be said that hasn't been already. Quite possibly the best movie ever made. Let's talk about this incredible movie!

Listen to the speech from the beginning of the movie here. Some day a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets.

Yeah I love this film, a great tale of loneliness, despair and desperation. Although I was a bit disappointed when I found out DeNiro never shaved his head for the part...

"As for the mohawk haircut, it's not real. He never did shave his head. The make-up people invented a special hair paste that made his real hair stay as close to his skull as possible, and then they'd add a shaven head and the mohawk in two separate pieces.
Also, the mohawk was never in the script. Apparently Scorcese had run into some guy who'd been in Vietnam who told him that when people over there ”went over the hill”, i.e. was going to die in battle sacrificing for their people/country, they'd shave their head like that as a sort of ”don't fuck with me, I'm going over the hill”-statement. Schrader says he didn't know if this was true. Maybe it just became part of the legend, a part of all the stories about what happened in Vietnam."

Classic. De Niro was intense and Jodie Foster was amazing.

Ending was handled pretty well but it kinda left the audience hanging.

I may be wrong, but I read somewhere he couldn't shave his head as he was acting for another movie at the same time

I have all Gaspar Noé's movies (lot of short ones), also met him at a cinema convention. I have recommended the movie in a topic few days ago. It's a great movie, maybe my fav from him. You should watch Carne (~40 mins), this is a kind of a preamble for Seul

Do you know of some copies with english subs embedded into the video? I can't get subtitles to work with movies for some reason..

I never look for english subs for obvious reasons, yet I think it would be easier to find subs first, and then use VLC player, it's got a very simple use of the subs. Try these subs for Carne: http://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subt...86354/carne-en
(I don't know why they used the thumbnail of Irreversible)
