The phonecalls came from a throw-a-way phone. Dead End. She's not my old lady to protect. I'll defer to her husband.

Law enforcement is your friend (in this matter).
Second, have one # for business she can filter - and another cell phone for private matters - unlisted.
Most of the professionals I know have two cell phones and a private Home #.
The creeps are out there and there's only so much one can do.
I advise the two cell method and private home line.
Best of luck.

Seems like you've answered your own question,
Best not ask anyone else, unless it's the " err, now what ?" Thread.

good advice. I have two mobiles and a land line. I deal with some fairly pissed off colourful characters as part of my job and using one mobile would just confuse the fuck out of my private life.

Exactly Mondo....
I use one Mobile for business, everyone has it and that's fine.
If anything screws up on it - whooop - change of #.
Then I have a second Mobile for friends and family - very private but useful.
And Third - a private home # (land line) - basically used for Fax or 911 (USA Emergency).
Most of my friends follow suit - 3 phones - Business - Pleasure - Security/Fax.
Glad to see you're on the ball as well

When I was a kid hardly anyone had a telephone and everyone got by fine. Then people who had two mobile phones were either drug dealers or prostitutes. These days unless you've got three numbers and six phones it seems life isn't worth living.

CAUGHT! By simple old time trickery. Mr. X mentioned a name. Mr.X said he was John Doe. A google search of said John Doe showed the the name in a nearby (15 miles) city. A call placed to this gentleman resulted in him saying he had a couple of guys pissed at him for something at their workplace. Mr. X calls yesterday and is met with "is this Dave or Paul?". A hangup followed. Several hours later Dave calls and says his cell phone was stolen and when he retrieved it, he noticed that there was a call made to my friend's phone. The information was reported to the police who in turn arrested the man after a lengthy chase through 3 counties and 7 small towns. Behinds bars tonight.

Thanks for all the positive feedback.

It's a small town newspaper with no online version available. The only information was that this guy was arrested for phone harrasment. My friend told me the details.Believe what you want. The more important questions are......why would I lie? and why would I ask for help?....Duh! So yeah, it happened.

Ya know my friend and her family have been through enough without handing out her specific location by providing a message forum with information about the newpaper that this article appeared in. I'm not that stupid and I'm sorry if my word isn't good enough. I posted this information in hopes of gaining some knowledge in order to provide some help to her. I have received good replies and then there have been a few that were just plain rude. So no, I'm not naming the newspaper. Geez.....

Hi Shockergonzo ~
I'm glad the matter is solved, No matter what the particulars are.
Your friend deserves to live in peace, as do we all.

Remember my advice for the future - one cell phone for business, one for personal needs (unlisted), and a land line (unlisted) as well.

Let's hope she can find some peace and the abuser/criminal will have learned his lesson.

All Best ~ MFF
