This is panic tactics by the new owners and its like anything else.

Sign up for energy for the next 18 months and we will freeze your bills, buy 2 years hosting at half price and so on. You have to remember that you are the customer and if they want to keep you, they will have to give.

If the new Vbull owners what to compete with SMF(free but shit) PHPBB and the others then they will have to play the game or lose.
I will ask a few other webmasters what they are doing but I doubt its something worth worrying over. If in a year you decide to upgrade, email them and tell them you'll offer them $130, take it or leave it. Fuck them, you are the customer and they will have to realize that.

Unfortunately, following the takeover by Internet Brands, vB now have higher aspersions. They're looking for a seat up there on the Micro$not bench where being ripped off and told to fuck themselves is a well deserved part of daily life.

Ok asking a couple of contacts who also have forums on Vbullshit say they are not upgrading. In time maybe more will go over but the consumer generally does not like being held to ransom.

They have put the beta version up on vb.com, it looks ok but my main concern is the fact their server is struggling with it and they have had to disable who's online etc. They are saying it is because of the huge numbers of people logging on but it is still a bit of a worry as they have no plugins.
