since spybot is free, why would anyone ever download it from somewhere other than the real website anyways?...

Yep. There are fakes to many of these types of programs.
The icon will look like this
The astronaut will look after you as he is everpresent on my desktop.

Personally I like using filehippo.com to DL stuff from as it has a nicer interface & gives pertinent info also. Check it out

As you know many folks get duped into DL rouge software. Before DL Anti-anything check here 1st http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Yes. The home of Spybot-Search & Destroy is a little confusing. That's why I clarified it above. I personally like to go to http://www.filehippo.com/ 1st to check for update & to search for programs. Their almost always on top of the latest updates. I use Spybot to protect my host files & to easily disable start entry's easily. I also use http://www.winpatrol.com/ Both are totally free.

Wonder if your programs are up to date? Check out this freebie from the trusted site of filehippo.com

I think I'm a victim too. I believe my account was hacked while I was away, and the bastard that did it couldn't be arsed to log in for nearly two weeks!
