Actually, you're wrong.

Most animal lovers don't like PETA because PETA is an extremist group of crazies, and does more harm than good to the animal rights movement by giving the whole shebang a bad reputation.

PETA's headquarters are a five minute drive from my house. I'm loosely acquainted with a few of its more notable staff members, some of whom live in or near my neighborhood, and many of my personal friends are into new age shit, veganism, nature conservancy, and animal rights.

I don't give a damn about new age shit or veganism, but I do believe in sensible nature conservancy and the protection of basic animal rights... just not the stupid shit PETA is always getting up to.

The fact you responded to a piece of information I didn't provide and didn't bother responding to the rest of the post leads me to the belief that you were attempting a rather arbitrary strawman.


What I am getting at is the difference between your perspective and mine. There are quite a few people here who don't have any sense of humanity, laughing when humans die but bitch and moan when an animal dies. How does this mean "EVERYBODY SHOULD LOVE PETA?"

In my own defense, it's pretty hard to hate, say, a dog. As a domesticated species, they're loyal, playful, easygoing, and just generally beyond reproach by human standards. There's no such thing as a bad dog, only a bad owner.

When a dog is tortured and/or killed by human beings, you can rest assured that they're blameless, and that they don't understand why they're being hurt. They're innocents, in other words.

Humans, on the other hand... humans are easy to hate, for a wide variety of reasons. It's primarily due to high intelligence and self-awareness, which allows people to think, plan and do things that OTHER people will despise... such as, for example, crushing a kitten underneath your high heels and filming it for the Internet.

It's much harder to feel empathy for a species that is, on the whole, still essentially a bunch of evil, brutal primates who vacuum up far more resources from the rest of the planet than any other creature, and are intelligent enough to be AWARE of their actions, yet delight in it anyway.

FYI, the whole point of debate is actually posting talking points to defend a belief, which I've done and you've failed to do. But in your mind, the idea that you think you know what you're talking about is a means to ignore every point you can't answer...

Peta goes way overboard on a lot of animals rights issues they do some good but come on it was just a fly get over it I am an animal rights activists but no way would i ever become a member of peta or send them one nickel shit if i was a member of peta they would take all my companion animals away from me and thats just fucked up I think and believe that ALF animal liberation front does a lot more good for the animals then peta will ever do
