well DU has several "civilian" uses too, but for military purposes it's mainly used for defensive armor plating and armor-piercing projectiles. AP bullets, anti-tank rounds, etcetera due to its weight. So it's used to destroy armored targets. A regular DU tank round can (and usually does) go clean through a tank's hull. And it tends to physically f*ck up people as much as it does tanks.
