I understand reporters have an unspoken rule that they will photograph and report what they see but they will keep from interfering, either so they don't become part of it or just to let "nature" take its course. You see the same with filmmakers in the wild with animals, even with the "in danger" to extinction species.

Regardless, I would not wish that shit even to my worst enemy. To experience in person such disaster, such of scenario where humanity is completely lost... It is disturbing and life changing. No wonder how high the suicide rate for these professionals is.
