Stephen King's next novel is coming on the 10th of November.
I'm always a bit embarrassed about being a Stephen King fan; because he's a household name and his books are so popular, there's a certain mass market air surrounding his novels. You can even find them in grocery stores in the US. But that's a superficial impression. His work still seems very personal to me, written in the way that he wants to write it, without any "selling out," compromises, or demographic pandering. This is supposed to be a really long novel as well, and I love long novels. I'm an exceedingly fast reader, so the longer the better. Can't wait for this one.

I think it's 1-800-ROADKILL, not sure though.
Fuck, now I'm going to think of him as Stephen "Roadkill" King for the rest of my life, lmao. Thanks so much, revolva.

I just finished After the Sunset by Stephen King. I particularly enjoyed his short story, N., which seemed as if he was attempting Lovecraft. I like him, though I tend to skip the parts that involve him randomly describing himself sitting at a desk and writing the very sentence I'm reading. Talk about a Stan Lee complex.
I liked him better as a coke addict. Well, his books anyways. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to read Under the Dome.

I've begun reading the unabridged version of The Stand. Jesus Christ. This shit is going to take 15 years to read.

It's actually titled Just After Sunset, and I recently finished it as well. I have an interesting story to tell about that, come to think of it.
King incorporates September 11th into several of the short stories in Just After Sunset, as you may recall. Well, not long after I finished the book, I was flipping through TV channels one evening, and I found a 9/11 documentary. I got tired of those in 2002, so I was about to change the channel... but then I noticed that the New York firefighter currently being interviewed in the documentary happened to be named Stephen King, just like the author. I thought that was pretty funny, so I continued watching the show. Heh, a 9/11 firefighter named Stephen King on TV, right after I'd finished reading a collection of short stories written by novelist Stephen King, some of which were about 9/11 (one exclusively about it). After two minutes of recounting the horrors of 9/11, the firefighter said: "I knew people were dying all around me every minute. The feelings going through my head that day... I could write a novel about them." I'm completely serious about this. It wasn't a joke show, it was a real documentary; and the firefighter wasn't joking, either. Don't think he even realized the irony of what he said. I lol'ed for fifteen minutes afterward at Stephen King the 9/11 firefighter saying he could write a novel about his experiences during 9/11.
