i'm interested in this topic as well here are a few methods many of which are used by the US army in Guantanemo Bay:

*Sleep deprivation
*Stress positions (i.e. force people to stay in uncomfortable positions for long amounts of time)
*Extremes of hot and cold
*Loud unpleasant noises such as white noise
*Starvation (this can also be used to tease people, i.e. by eating food in front of them when they havn't eaten for 10 days
*'Chinese' Water torture, i.e. strap someone down so they can't move and place a faucet that drips cold water at random intervals onto the victims forhead.
*Waterboarding ('spanish' water torture), dunking the victime under the water for as long as possible then allowing them up for some air, repeat.
*De-personalisation - a very common and simple trick is to remove all traces of individuality from a person, for example give them a jump suit and shave their head and call them by a number not their name.
*Various verbal method's and mind games can also be played on the victim depending on what the intended outcome is, if the outcome is merely degradation they can just be submitted to various humiliating treatment and generally verbally abused.
*Cut off all communication between your victime and the outside world, keep them in solitary confinement and do not even let them see you, push food in for them through a slot.
*Secretly drug them with mind altering substances, i.e. LSD, Mescaline, Ketamine, etc. and then try to induce a 'bad trip' by employing some of the above mentioned tortures, keep them in this drugged state for as long as possible

Of course apart from all these mainly mental forms of torture there are also the various physical forms which of course are very effective as well.
