death gate 5 (of 7)
plot, hmmm... demigods + fantasy stuff. a lot more chaotic than the usual d&d-type stuff. the plot focuses on 2 sets of beings with vast magical powers, and the ongoing war between them (with the mere mortals stuck in the middle). been slowly making my way through the set, it's a pretty good read.

Dai Sijie: Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress
I got this book from my sis @ my birthday. It's a pure novel about two chinese friends in a chinese political prison encampment, where they have to fight for their goal of getting released again and where they meet a chinese seamstress in a small village. The story is based on these three. It's a great insight in chinese culture, a certain time period, and the the main protagonists psyche. Being a bit in the shadow of his friend who is great at entertaining the prisoners and the nearby village and who has a love relationship with the seamstress, he slowly finds his own style and way to express himself and gets resprect. Some points about the main protagonist were quite similar to my personality, so starting to read the book (the critical part) was mastered quite easily. (Do you read those books you get as a present??) The story isn't that long and much of the otherwise boring content was compressed nicely. It leaves all that wonderous happening one would encounter in years of enprisonment and repression. Small things, which count much. A tough friendship and a fragile love. Desperation and Hope.... yep... 9/10 ![]() |

Charles Buckowski-Ham on Rye
An absolutely fantastic book, again partially based on Buckowski's own life. Dark, sometimes tragic, often hilarious,i would recommend it to all humans. |

Just finishing "The Art of Seduction" by Robert Greene - 450 pages of tightly packed yet useful information into which any serial cad can dig their teeth. An eye opener to the ways of the world and women through history to modern day. Read it, study it, memorise it and recite it; no woman will be able to resist you - not even Yhtac or Nigella.

I've started reading "The Da Vinci Code" about three times, but could never get into it.
I think the last book I read in full was "The Shankill Butchers" It's a good read.

First Blood, by David Morrell...
Yes, the book that brought us Rambo. Superior to the movie though. The ending is drastically different, and more true to the "tragic misunderstanding" premise of the story. |
