I got barbarians on my amstrad cpc 464 lol (was like 5 years old, was my brother's computer).

yep it was. keyboard directly plugged into the screen.

games took around 30 minutes to load lol

I had an Amstrad CPC 464 but with the hard-floppy drive. And a green tube screen. Hell yes.

I'd forgotten about Strife and Syndicate, they're among the very few games on this page I haven't played.

You know what pisses me off? I recently learned that the Commodore Amiga was a generation ahead of most other computer systems in the late 1980s and early 1990s, meaning there are some games released with EGA on DOS that are in VGA (or near-VGA) on the Amiga, with better sound.

I didn't know this when I was a kid because, quite frankly, the only way to know about that sort of thing in the late 1980s and early 1990s was to be a huge nerd or an industry insider.

I'll have to fire up an Amiga emulator at some point to run certain games.
