I haven't played Super Metroid in a decade and a half, and I don't remember jack shit about it, but I'm badass at uncovering the secret power-ups, and have no problem doing advanced moves like multiple single-wall wall jumps, morph bomb hover, morph bomb infinite jump, mid-air morph to fit into small passages, et cetera. I haven't died fighting a boss yet, either (or at all).

That being said, Mega Man games own the shit out of me.

MegaMan games would be so much better with an infinite bomb jump.

There are some platformers I really enjoy, and others I just can't seem to get the hang of or plain dislike.

Castlevania and Metroid games are always good, but I've never really liked Mega Man or Sonic the Hedgehog. The bosses in Mega Man are the sort you have to fight at least several times to get the hang of, and the end bosses are always almost impossible to defeat. Sonic the Hedgehog... well, there's just something about blasting full-force though every level that I really don't like.

Oddly enough, I like Contra, and Contra is more difficult than Mega Man, so it's not just the game's difficulty that puts me off.

Without using guides, I've found every single power-up other than one Energy Tank and one Super Missile expansion, and I'm pretty sure I have a good idea where those might be.

After finding those, the only challenge remaining is mastering the most ludicrously difficult advanced moves, and attempting a speed run.

Apparently, the best recorded Super Metroid speed run to date was accomplished in just over thirty minutes. There's not a chance in hell of me getting anywhere near that.

100% items in 1:29 is the best i can do. tied it twice, can't top it no matter what i do. best top speed without regard to item collection is 1:04. can't top that shit either. then again i don't know all those fucking whacked out techniques to go through walls and skip bosses and all that shit, and you gotta do that sorta shit to get less than an hour you simply gotta
