That is not an attack dog, that is his companion Blondi. He was extremely close and devoted to Blondi and she, along with her puppies were his greatest comfort during his last days in the bunker.

And yes there are a LOT of crazy rumors spread about him, but his views on animals and vegetarianism are not made up, they are well documented.

That dog is tense and nervous around him. Its body language is showing its extremely anxious and fearful. A strange reaction from a dog he's supposed to have loved and been close to. Either that isnt a dog he knows, or he was cruel and abusive towards Blondi.

A lot of shepherds can be spooky/nervous/fearful. He was very gentle and affectionate towards her (leaning over and resting his head against hers, that is a sign of intimacy) and she was glancing off camera with a nervous look. Not only he is very gentle, but you can see he is talking to her and pointing things out to her off camera.

She very well could have been nervous about the activity around them, and he could have been comforting her. Here is another video that shows him with her and her pups and other dogs.

I don't think he was "testing" it. Besides he shot himself in the head the instant he took the cynaide. He gave all the pups and Blondi the cynaide. If it was a "test" and he wasn't intentionally sending them all to Nirvana why not just "test" it on one? It wasn't a test, and he would not leave any of them behind to suffer at the hands of the Russians. There were obviously other dogs there as well. A true dog lover would NEVER check out and leave their closest companion in the hands of the enemy to be tortured (and she would have been).

I am sure that was very hard for him, but it was the right thing to do. One of the other generals and his wife did that to their own children in the bunker as well (which is different because the kids would not likely have been killed). Why don't the "stories" say they "tested the poison on their kids to see if it worked". Same situation, but no one would imply that.

Does it not occur to you that its a false front? That he was doing it merely for the cameras?
I think his so called "love" of animals was a crock of shit, many historians believe that once the cameras were turned off he was a control freak and abusive towards them, and there are accounts backing up this theory.

The accounts of people that knew him, and spent a lot of time with him (like his secretary) say he was quiet and soft spoken and very very polite. Keep in mind there is NO evidence that Hitler EVER killed anyone himself. There is NO evidence he was personally abusive to others in any way.

Regardless, people like to paint "evil characters" as 100% evil. That is ignorant. Most all of the infamous evil-doers DOES in fact have have a light side. If you think they don't you are a fool.

You will be doing the goose-step because you believe "evil is like the movies" and they possess no redeeming qualities. He was human, he was both light and dark. If he wasn't capable of love and compassion as well as the other extreme, he would never have won over German (and other foreign leaders) so easily.

Balance. And no one fakes affection that well (not that faking affection towards animals was a high priority in the 30's). No one.
